Reflection

What I enjoyed most when working on this task
During this elearning task, I enjoyed wandering around the neighborhood looking for the landmarks I researched on earlier to take pictures of. With a partner with me, it made the journey more exciting as I met some ex schoolmates along the way to each of our destination.

What were some challenges I faced
Some challenges that I faced was researching more about the past and present about a particular landmark. Some website does not give information that I want to know. After browsing through a few sites, I finally found one that helps me best in my description of the location. To summarize everything up, I would also have to use some of my general knowledge and past experiences to write up about something more interesting and realistic.

Describe ONE area that you think you could do better if given the opportunity to do it again
I would have plan the route that I am going to use before setting out of the house if not I will have to run all about the neighborhood to the destination I want to be at.

A Travelogue for Tourist and Our Future Generations

I researched and went around the neighborhood of Ang Mo Kio and I found out 3 landmarks and locations that interests me.

1) Ang Mo Kio National Library

The NLB was officially opened on 17th August 1985 by Mr Yeo Toon Chia, a Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio Constituency. The library is a well-known landmark in the centre of Ang Mo Kio. The library was then closed in April 2002 for upgrading and it officially re-opened again on 25th January 2003 by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, a Minister of State for National Development. It is a place where people of the public can visit to gather more information on what they want to know through books, and some, through the internet. They can also come here to borrow story books to read if they have the free time.

2) Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange

The Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange will be shifting back to its permanent site which is located in the AMK Hub at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 on the 28th April 2007 (Saturday). This new Bus Interchange will be the third air-conditioned bus interchange to be operated in Singapore. The first two was the interchange at Toa Payoh and Sengkang. With shopping, food and public transport all under one air-conditioned roof, it will provide commuters with a more convenient and comfortable travelling shopping experience.

3) 628 Market

The 628 Market is originally built in 1979. This hawker centre is located opposite Yio Chu Kang CC and near schools, temples and residential areas. On 16thOctober2007, there was a fire outbreak in this market, the market is then torn down to be rebuilt. Meanwhile, a temporary market was set up behind the Yio Chu Kang CC so that the stall holders in the original market would not lose their monthly income. After the upgrading in 2010, the rebuilt centre consists of 52 cooked food stalls and 166 market stalls to serve the marketing and dining needs of commuters.
